CAS: 111-76-2
Ethylenglykolmono-n-butylether, 2-Butoxyethanol, 1-Hydroxy-2-n-butoxy-ethan

High-boiling, low-volatility liquid with a mild odour that is used as a solvent and starting material for syntheses. Excellent co-solvent in aqueous coating systems (water-based paints).

CAS: 112-34-5
Diethylenglykolmonobutylether, 2-(2-Butoxyethoxy)ethanol

Low-volatility, high-boiling, clear liquid with a mild odour. Solvent for numerous natural and synthetic resins, fats and oils. Feedstock for syntheses.

CAS: 143-22-6*), 1559-34-8
Mixture of ethylene glycol monoalkyl ethers

Low-volatility, high-boiling, clear, odourless liquid. Butyltriglycol supplied by BASF is a technical-grade product.

CAS: 143-22-6*), 1559-34-8
Mixture of ethylene glycol monoalkyl ethers

n-Hexylglycol is a clear, mobile, neutral, slightly hygroscopic liquid with a mild odour. It is miscible with all common solvents, e. g. alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, ethers, glycols and aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons. Its miscibility with water, however, is limited.

n-Hexylglycol enters into the typical reactions of alcohols, e. g. esterification, etherification, oxidation and the formation of alcoholates. Like all other ethers, it may form peroxides if it comes into contact with atmospheric oxygen.

One of the main applications is the coatings industry.By virtue of its good solvent power, the main applications of n-hexylglycol are as a solvent, flow promoter and coalescent aid.

For instance, it improves the flow of many baking finish systems. Added in small proportions to formulations for electrodeposition paints, it greatly improves film formation and levelling. n-Hexylglycol is also eminently suitable as a mild, low-odour co-solvent in low-aromatic mineral spirit blends for dissolving polymer binders such as Acronal® 260 F.

n-Hexylglycol can also be used in printing inks and cleaners.

Mixture of ethylene glycol monoalkyl ethers

n-Hexyldiglycol is a clear, mobile, neutral, slightly hygroscopic liquid with a mild odor. It is miscible with all common solvents, e. g. alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, ethers, glycols and aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons. Its miscibility with water, however, is limited.

CAS: 107-98-2
Methoxy-1,2-propanol, Propylene glycol-1-methyl ether, Methoxy-1,2-hydroxpropane, Methylpropylene glycol

CAS: 34590-94-8
Dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether, Methoxypropoxypropanol, Methyldipropylene glycol (mixture of isomers)

Solvenon® DPM is a mixture of isomers. It is a clear, high-boiling, hygroscopic, mobile, low-volatility liquid with a mild odour and is miscible with water and common organic solvents.

By virtue of the ether and alcohol groups in the constituent isomers, Solvenon® DPM is an excellent solvent for many of the raw materials that are used in coatings, e. g. resins and binders. An important feature of Solvenon® DPM is the fact that it acts as a solubilizer in many aqueous coating systems.

It possesses the typical properties of ethers and alcohols. For instance, it reacts with acids (to form esters), oxidizing agents (to form the corresponding aldehydes or carboxylic acids), alkali metals (to form alcoholates) or aldehydes (to form acetals).

Solvenon® DPM may form peroxides with atmospheric oxygen.
