AdBlue® GE by BASF delivers the same proven performance as our standard AdBlue® – but is produced using 100% green electricity. This lowers CO₂ emissions in production and improves the cradle‑to‑gate footprint.

Our strongest step towards lower CO₂ emissions
AdBlue® ZeroPCF by BASF is our most sustainable AdBlue® variant, offering the same proven quality while significantly reducing the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF, cradle‑to‑gate) to below 0.05 kg CO₂ per kilogram of AdBlue®. This reduction is achieved through the use of Biomethane and Green Electricity based on a certified biomass balance approach. TÜV Rheinland has verified the PCF calculation according to ISO 14067:2018.

Facts about AdBlue®
Stricter Euro IV, V and VI emission standards have significantly reduced the permissible levels of nitrogen oxides for commercial and, more recently, private vehicles. To meet these requirements, most European OEMs rely on Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology — a system in which AdBlue® by BASF plays a key role.
AdBlue® is a high‑purity 32.5% urea solution injected into the exhaust stream. There, it releases ammonia, which reacts with nitrogen oxides on the SCR catalyst to form harmless nitrogen and water — natural components of the air we breathe. This process effectively reduces NOₓ emissions and supports compliance with current emission regulations.
In combination with SCR catalysts, AdBlue® by BASF can also contribute to reduced fuel consumption and stable engine performance by enabling higher, more efficient combustion temperatures and lowering soot formation.
