Circular Economy for Styrenics

Sustainability across the entire value chain:
from production to recycling

The circular economy is becoming increasingly important, with value chains establishing sustainable solutions such as waste reduction, improved reuse, as well as chemical and mechanical recycling.

We create chemistry for a sustainable future. The circular economy approach for BASF’s EPS portfolio demonstrates how sustainable packaging and construction can be achieved. By reducing our emissions, we contribute to climate protection.

The Reinvention of EPS

We use alternative raw materials to produce the same products more sustainably.

Since the invention of Styropor® more than 75 years ago, our experts at BASF have succeeded in improving expandable polystyrene (EPS). The further development Neopor® is established in the construction industry and insulation materials made of it make an important contribution to reducing CO2 emissions. With alternative manufacturing methods, we are reinventing EPS and offering solutions for a sustainable future.
