Our vision: being the preferred partner for sustainable intermediates for our customers. 

With a focus on CO2 management, recycled and renewable carbon, we offer products which support our customers in achieving their sustainability goals. With solutions and certified concepts such as our product carbon footprint (PCF) calculation system and the biomass balance approach, we help reduce product carbon footprints without compromising on quality or performance.

Our portfolio includes different sustainable product variants – from standard products with a verified PCF following the  Together for Sustainability PCF guidelines, over products with a reduced PCF or a PCF of zero, to biomass balanced and recycled products – all designed to meet the diverse sustainability needs of our customers.

Standard Products

Efficient by design: Our standard products benefit from BASF’s unique Verbund setup, choice of feedstock and continuous process optimization for a competitive cradle-to-gate product carbon footprint. One example is our amines portfolio produced with 100 percent renewable electricity. Some standard products even come with a LowPCF claim.

Reduced Product Carbon Footprint (rPCF) Products

Taking the next step: rPCF products come with a PCF reduction of minimum 10% compared to the BASF standard product in the producing region, achieved through the use of low emission feedstocks and low emission utilities.

Zero emissions, full impact: We achieve a cradle-to-gate PCF of zero by attributing renewable feedstock through our certified biomass balance approach and, in some cases, attributing renewable electricity – all while maintaining identical quality and performance.

Biomass Balanced (BMBcert®) Products

Renewable feedstock, identical quality: Fossil feedstocks are replaced with renewable ones via a certified mass balance approach – according to recognized standards such as ISCC PLUS, REDcert2, ISCC EU, and REDcertEU - ensuring identical quality with a significantly reduced product carbon footprint.
