As an commodities business at the heart of chemical production, we are at a key position to set the base for the sustainable evolution of our many customer industries.

BASF Monomers will continue to help its customers reach their sustainability targets by bringing net-zero and circularity together, expanding its portfolio focused on lower CO₂ footprint products and circular solutions while also prioritizing OpEx activities to cut its own emissions. By offering a circular option in every major product line by 2025, BASF Monomers Division will enable even more of its customers to produce more sustainably.

As a commodity business at the heart of chemical production, we have the potential to significantly drive the sustainable transformation of both BASF and the various customer industries we serve.

Our Goals

A certified circular/LowPCF option in every major product line by 2025.

Lower CO₂ emissions by prioritizing technical optimization measures in our operations.

We enhance our sustainable product portfolio

BASF’s Monomers applies the mass balance approach to lauch circular/LowPCF options.

Examples are Lupranat^® ZERO, an MDI based on attributed renewable raw materials that has a PCF of zero, and Ultramid^® Ccycled^®, an innovative material for the packaging and textile industry that is based on chemically recycled tires or Caustic Soda 50% LowPCF, an important base chemical for numerous applications.

With major sites around the globe already certified, the Monomers division is offering certified non-fossil products to its customers all over the world.

We further optimize our operations

At BASF, we will become more efficient in our production and energy use, we will increase our use of renewable energies and we will accelerate the development and deployment of new CO₂-free processes for the production of chemicals.

One example is our nitric acid plant cluster where improved processes allowed us to further reduce the residual N₂O emissions by factor 100.

We can provide PCF documentation for our products to our customers on a NDA basis, helping them to make informed decisions.
