Styropor® - Der Klassiker
Styropor® – The Classic
Styropor® an expandable polystyrene (EPS), was invented in 1951 by BASF and has become a classic among raw materials in the construction and packaging industry today. Styropor® offers a large product portfolio with a wide range of applications. Whether for efficient construction or shock absorption and moisture insensitive packaging of products.

Benefits
- excellent thermal insulation capacity
- high compressive strength
- outstanding impact absorption
- low weight
- imperviousness to moisture

Save CO2 emissions with packaging made of Styropor® BMB!
If the packaging for 1.000 washing machines were made of Styropor® BMB, the CO2 reduction would be euivalent to that emitted by a car driving further than 10.000 km, compared with standard Styropor®.
Styropor® Cycled®
Sustainably packaged, safely protected

With the mass-balanced raw material Styropor® Ccycled®, BASF demonstrates how circular economy and technological innovation can be combined. The material already meets future requirements such as the use of recycled content by 2030 and actively supports the transition to a functioning circular economy – without compromising on quality, safety, or cost-effectiveness.
Styropor® Ccycled® offers all the proven benefits of expanded polystyrene, including high product protection, low weight, and an excellent cost-performance ratio. Existing applications can continue unchanged, and no additional investments are required.
As part of the ChemCycling® approach, fossil resources are fully replaced at the beginning of production with recycled feedstock derived from plastic waste. This conserves fossil resources and reduces the carbon footprint. Styropor® Ccycled® is therefore a future-proof solution that meets ecological and economic requirements alike.
