Sustainable packaging with Styropor® over the entire lifecycle
With the biomass balance approach (BMB) certified by REDcert, fossil raw materials required to produce EPS (expandable polystyrene) can be replaced by renewable ones.
BASF's ChemCycling® project aims to manufacture products from chemically recycled plastic waste on an industrial scale in the future.
Here you can see which ChemCycling® projects have already been implemented together with our customers.
General information on ChemCycling® can be found here.
Even after a longer period of use, Styropor® packaging retains its shape, size, structure and insulating properties. The material is insensitive to moisture and keeps food, in particular, fresh for a long time.
The extraordinary damping properties of Styropor® guarantee the safe transport of valuable and sensitive goods, such as food, technical equipment or medicine.
Since polystyrene consists of 98% air, the lightweight material helps reduce CO2 emissions during transport.
