Nickel Fixed Bed

BASF offers a range of nickel catalysts that can be used for fixed bed operation. Nickel catalysts are normally supplied in reduced and stabilized form that can help to shorten the start up period.

Each nickel catalyst in our portfolio is designed with its own carefully balanced combination of physical and chemical parameters, so that reliable catalyst performance can be achieved with each of the diverse range of applications.

Our nickel fixed bed catalysts can be used for

  • Dearomatisation/deolefination of refinery fractions towards high end solvents, fuel additives, lubes, white oils and waxes.
  • Polishing of fatty alcohols downstream fatty methyl ester or wax ester hydrogenolysis
  • Saturation of waxes and paraffins originating from petroleum, coal, shale oil or natural gas for the application in cosmetics, candles, electrical insulation and medical ointments
  • Gas purification of inert gas for semiconductor industry

Products available

Ni 3298E, Ni 3300E

  • Ni 3298E and Ni 3300E are best suited in those configurations in which physical strengh and water tolerance is a must.
  • Ni 3300E lasts longest in dearomatisation reactions due to its highest nickel efficienty.

Ni 5256E, Ni 5300E

  • Ni 5256E and Ni 5300E are applied in configurations that put a lower physical force to the catalyst allowing very long life circle in combination with very deep levels of unsaturation.
  • Ni 5300E lasts longest in dearomatisation reactions due to its highest nickel efficienty.

E 474 T RL

  • E 474 T RL is BASF's globally applied, robust, nickel fixed bed tablet for efficient polishing of fatty alcohol process streams. It has a bulk density of 1,3 g/ml and contains 56% Ni. It is typically sold fully reduced, submerged in C12 alcohol.
  • E 474 T RL is the catalyst with a proven track record in the carbonyl polishing step showing very long lifecycles (4-5 years). This formulation is very forgiving with regards to plant upsets even allowing for catalyst cleaning cycles.

Ni 3300E

  • Ni 3300E is best suited in those configurations in which physical strength and water tolerance is a must.
  • Ni 3300E and Ni 7210E offer a commercially appreciated advantage in case additional activity or surface area is requried.

Ni 5256E, Ni 5300E

  • Ni 5256E and Ni 5300E are applied in configurations that put a lower physical force to the catalyst allowing very long life circle in combination with very deep levels of unsaturation.
  • Ni 5300E lasts longest in the polishing of paraffins. This is particularly benefical with higher paraffins, for which the operating window is typically limited in temperature.

Ni 3300E, Ni 5256E, Ni 5300E

  • All catalysts have been commercially used to remove impurities(O2, CO, CO2) of inert gas to ppb level.
  • Different size are available for different gas capacity.

Ni 3354 E, Ni 3364 E

  • All catalysts have been commercially used for hydrogenation of aldehyde to produce IPA and Oxo alcohols.
  • Suitable for liquid phase hydrogenation with high activity and selectivity.
