As of August 8, 2019,  Chinese customers can purchase Hexamoll® DINCH, BASF's non-phthalate plasticizer, in the recently opened BASF flagship online store on the Chinese Alibaba platform 1688.com.

Alibaba Group Holding Limited is a Chinese multinational conglomerate, which offers several sales services via web portals. Their Chinese portal is called 1688.com and was developed for domestic trade between business in China. It has become the country’s top online platform, with over 120 million registered buyers and 11 million sellers. The launch of Hexamoll® DINCH on this platform is another milestone for BASF to promote e-commerce in China. Customers can now easily purchase the raw materials for their product by just logging on the webpage and clicking the button – like it has already become a daily routine in most people’s private lives.

“Now, we are opening this new distribution channel for Hexamoll® DINCH,” said Birgit Winkler (E-CPI/M), Head of Business Management Plasticizers. “Customers will receive the BASF product with the same quality and logistics services as they would if they bought it the conventional way." "By using this channel, we can especially serve smaller customers across China in a more flexible manner,” added Vivien Xu (A-CP/A), Regional Marketing Management Hexamoll® DINCH/Plasticizer, Asia Pacific.

A re-occurring issue in the Asia Pacific region is the existence of trademark infringements and commonness of counterfeit products. “The existence of the flagship store also helps to improve this situation as customers can be sure to source the original BASF product made in Germany,” concluded Winkler.
